Community comes together for a mural-ly good time

We were excited to welcome the community to Bella Vista Pocket Park across two Saturdays in October, as we hosted our mural making days, where locals had the chance to participate in free screen-printing sessions with the team from public art enterprise, Muralisto. 

Our budding artists created their own mural designs on t-shirts and tote bags, inspired by the surroundings of Bella Vista and the colourful work of Muralisto – which will feature on the hoarding surrounding the park later this year. 

To accommodate the installation of the new mural, there will also be some construction work taking place in Bella Vista Pocket Park from early November until Christmas.  

Placemaking programs to return in February

As we approach the 2023 festive season, our regular Bella Vista Pocket Park placemaking programs have now wrapped up for the year, as we prepare for the new year ahead.  

Our free activities, including exercise classes with Live Life Get Active, learn to skate classes with Totem Skate Collective and kids’ dance classes with Stage Door Performing Arts, will resume in February 2024, and re-registration is essential. 

We are looking forward to introducing some new and exciting programs in 2024, so stay tuned via this newsletter and our website for all the latest news.

Planning open spaces at Bella Vista and Kellyville

In early 2024, we will be consulting with the community on planning for the future open spaces at Bella Vista and Kellyville. Your input will be invaluable in the creation of new vibrant, community spaces surrounding the Metro North West Line stations. 

Stay tuned for further updates on how you can be involved in this and other future community consultation activities.  

Northwest Faces: Dave Coleman

This month we had a great catchup with Dave Coleman, the artist behind the colourful new artworks you may have seen at Bella Vista and Kellyville stations, developed for our Creative Connections program. 

Dave’s energetic and colourful illustrations have been inspired by a selection of words and extracts from texts created by students at Crestwood and Glenwood High schools, drawn from their fond memories and experiences of living in Northwest Sydney. 

“When I was young, the schools I attended in Northwest Sydney were some of the best, with a great culture,” he explained. “That’s why I was inspired by the words of the students – it brought back memories of my time at school, when I first developed my love of drawing and art.” 

Dave’s artwork is currently on display at Bella Vista and Kellyville Metro stations.
