A teddy bear's dancing picnic

You don’t need to head out to the woods to find yourself a Teddy Bear’s Picnic!

Bring your little ones to Bella Vista Pocket Park on Wednesday 3 May and you can be sure of a big surprise!

Join our friends from Stage Door Performing Arts as they host a Teddy Bear’s Picnic themed dance class.

Designed to teach musicality and movement, this free class invites kids to bring a favourite Teddy Bear along with them to join in the dancing and music fun.

Teddies can also show off their dance moves to their favourite bear-themed songs and afterwards all participants (Teddies included) are invited to BYO their own morning tea and enjoy a post-class picnic.

Create your own skateboard design

.

In celebration of Youth Week, we’re inviting kids aged 10+ to Bella Vista Pocket Park for the opportunity to paint their own skateboard design with Sydney artist Joel Cameron.

This hands-on class will provide an insight into the creative process, starting with a quick brainstorming and drawing session to get the ideas flowing, before each unique design is transferred onto a blank skateboard deck – which every participant gets to take home!

The focus of the class will be to have fun while exploring the use of colour and building creative confidence and independence, giving kids the chance to express themselves.

This class is for anyone that is interested in art and skateboarding!

Numbers are strictly limited, so sign up today!

Northwest Faces: Meet Ben Currie

For this month’s Northwest Faces profile, we talked to Ben Currie, Sydney Head Coach at Totem Skate, a familiar face to budding young skateboarders in The Hills.

Ben says one of the best things about his job is helping kids to learn in a safe environment like our Bella Vista Pocket Park.

“We mostly work with kids aged 6-12 – although sometimes we have the parents joining in as well! I love watching people expand their skills, with an introduction to skate ramps and tricks.

“Overall, the response to our classes in The Hills has been great! Skating not only offers fantastic physical exercise, but it gives kids mental benefits as well.”
