Community consultation for the new open spaces coming to Kellyville and Bella Vista is now closed.

From 15 December 2023 until 23 February 2024, we invited the local community to provide input into the design of the open spaces coming to Kellyville and Bella Vista.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our online survey, meet the team at a community pop-up, or attend a workshop. Your feedback is invaluable to ensure we design places the community will love for years to come.

About the project

Landcom and Sydney Metro are working together to develop the land around the Bella Vista and Kellyville stations. These projects are part of the broader Sydney Metro Northwest Places Program that will create new communities along the Metro Northwest rail line.

Sydney Metro Northwest Places focuses on creating diverse, well-designed places for current and future communities. These new communities will grow along the Metro Northwest rail line will enjoy world-class public transport, high-quality parks, cycling connections, walking paths, play spaces and sporting grounds easily accessible to all. What we heard – what do you value the most?

the ability to connect with nature in open spaces
creating a place for cycling, running and walking
creating a fun place with diverse activities and play
people in both areas see local history, natural scenery, and community diversity as important themes to consider for public art, culture and heritage of open spaces
the majority of survey respondents strongly agree that it’s important to celebrate First Nations history and heritage within the open space.

The community insights we heard through consultation will be considered as priorities in the detailed designs for the new open spaces.

Next steps

We are now collating the feedback from the community consultation as part of developing the detailed design. As part of this process, we are consulting with The Hills Shire Council and other state authorities before lodging development applications later this year with Council for public exhibition and assessment.

The development applications will provide detailed designs, and we will provide opportunities during Council’s public exhibition to meet with us so we can explain how local community feedback has been considered in the designs for the new open spaces.
